Where Have You Been?

I know, I know. It's been awhile since I blogged. Get over it.

Not a lot going on. I have started jogging...nothing crazy mind you. First week I only jogged five minutes. Last week, I jogged three minutes, walk two for a total of 15 minutes. This week the plan is five on, two off. I even purchased my first pair of good (aka expensive) running shoes. I think it makes a difference over the $20 Payless shoes that I had...although, I'd hoped that the difference would be that a half hour would pass by before I even began to feel tired. That didn't happen. Oh well. I've also started working out primarily in the middle of the day instead of after work. I was getting pretty bad about talking myself out of working out if I waited and since it's been fairly slow here, I've taken advantage of it. I think that's made a difference, too. Lost 2.5 pounds last week, so that's a good thing. Getting closer to that iPod every day.

On Saturday I wrote and completed the first short story that I've written in years. I've been so "busy" writing the novel that I haven't really spent time writing anything else. I started and near to completing a different story. But after I bought a friend's bridal shower gift on Saturday, I was inspired to write something. It will probably be pretty short; it was about seven journal (front and back) pages long and all narrative, which is rare for me. I will have to type it up this week.

I can't believe this weekend is Labor Day weekend! This month flew by. The whole summer did, actually.

I joined a soccer team this week. We start playing next week. It's on the beginner's league so hopefully the team members are actually beginners. I figured since I generally don't have plans on Saturday nights, outside of the occassional babysitting gig, it would be a more productive way to spend the evening than, let's say, watching Garden State and drooling over Zach Braff, which is exactly what I did this past Saturday. Twice actually.

Tried the lasagna pizza from Pizza Hut last night. It was okay. I don't know what I expected, but other than the ricotta cheese, it wasn't very lasagnay. Maybe they need to put a layer of noodles on it. I don't know. It was cheesey, so I gotta give it to them there.

Alright...I should go to the gym now...

Chocolate

I'm not sure if it's usual that a movie soundtrack releases a month before the movie does, but the soundtrack to The Last Kiss released this past Tuesday and I have had to search high and low to get it, finally caving to the pressure and bought it at Barnes and Noble, despite the inflated price. Zach Braff picked out the songs for the movie, and as in the case of Garden State, he did a great job. So far, my favorite song is Chocolate, by Snow Patrol. I'm perplexed by the title since that word doesn't actually appear in the song. But it's a good song that feels like a theme song. There are two tracks by Joshua Radin that are great...now I will have to go buy his cd I think.

I've spent the past two nights working on a short story. I feel a little guilty, like I should be working on the novel, but any writing is good I suppose. It's got a much different feel than anything I've worked on...a lot less dialogue, which is very unusual. I always get so excited when I first start working on something...I tend to talk about it to people and then get hurt by their comments. I can't seem to get it through my head that I shouldn't do that. Save myself some tears and keep it to myself like I used to in high school! :)

Nearly a week later, I am still not totally digging the brown hair. It's not so horrible that I am going to dye it back right away...I spent way too much money getting it this color, so I am just going to have to put up with it for a couple months. I think I am just meant to be blond.

Very excited about the So You Think You Can Dance tour coming to Seattle next month!!

Brunettes

I chose a darker than usual color for my hair when I went to the salon on Saturday. I've been inching my way closer to brunette for awhile, but I finally just had to do it. So it's done, with some blond foil. I can't say that I think it's great, but it's not awful either. It looks really wrong to me, since I am a blond naturally. I think I need some more time to get used to it. I figure that if I don't like it, in the couple months time that it takes for my hair to grow out I can just change it back. I thought the darker hair would make me all dramatic looking...but I think it just makes me look paler...and not in that exotic, dramatic way...just in that "Good grief go to a tanning salon!" way.

Having dinner at Wendy's tonight. Haven't seen her in ages, so that will be nice...plus she has a new puppy!

Melissa and her fiancee have made an offer on a cute and spacious looking (from the pics at least) house in Bothell...I can't imagine having to deal with selling a place, packing, searching for a new place, planning a wedding, and then moving all concurrently! It was bad enough just buying a place when that's all that I had to do.

Visited a house that Judy is house sitting for on the Plateau...they have a movie theatre in their basement. Yes, a movie theatre. There were six plus, leather, reclining with foot rests chairs with cup holders. The screen was about half the size of a regular theatre's screen. It was pretty cool.

Step Away From The Ben And Jerry's

Today is one of my Godson's birthdays...Happy Second Birthday, Jeremiah Hope you enjoy that dvd/vcr player that I got you!

Yes, folks, I got him a piece of electronic equipment.

The other night I actually bought some Chubby Hubby ice cream. It was on sale, so I took that as a sign from God that it was time to have some. I'd like to say that it was so inspirational that I immediately started writing and quickly wrote ten pages of Pulitzer-winning prose. If you want to believe that, please discontinue reading this entry.

I'm reading Breakup Babe's novel, though, and that's actually fairly inspirational. Maybe because I know the author...without really knowing her (she's a Writergrrl, too). Maybe because there are some similarities to my own book: Seattle as a setting, a book about relationships...Hers is definitely "chick-lit" and I am hoping that mine won't be...But it's a fun read.
