References

It is essential that any other author's work that is referenced in a piece be properly acknowledged.

Books

Title. Author (last, first). Publisher, Publication date, Page number(s).

NOTE: If there is no author, use the editor's name.

Magazines/Newspapers

Article Title, Publication Name. Author (last, first). Issue Month, Year.

NOTE: If the publication is a newspaper, also include the date along with the month and year of its publication. For instance:

Seattle Writergrrls Win Award For Best New Zine. Seattle Times. Jones, Nicole. October 11, 2001.

Software

Title of Software. Author (Last, First). Article title, Version, Publisher, Year of publication.

EXAMPLE: If Microsoft® Encarta® was used, cite it:

Microsoft® Encarta®. Folsom, Ed. American Literature: Poetry, Deluxe, Microsoft, 2001.

Web sites

Article title (if applicable). Author name (last, first). URL, Month Year.

NOTE: Some Web sites don't have clearly defined titles, either for the site itself or for the information within it. If you can't find a title, exclude that part of the citation. The URL is sufficient. Also, if no posting date is clear, then state the month and year in which you used the Web site information to write your article.

NOTE: Use the http://www.whatever.com format in the citation. Taggers will make the URL hot when the article is coded.
